Presenter: Randy Romes, Manager, Information Security Services Group, LarsonAllen

Achieving system security is a moving target.  The hacker’s aim continues to improve.  As we continue to enhance the security of their infrastructure, the hackers continue to find new ways to compromise your information systems.  In recent months web application vulnerabilities have made up 50% or more of newly reported security risks.  This session will demonstrate how real attacks against web applications work, what the risks are, and how to defend against them.

Information on the Presenters

Fred Laing is the President of the Upper Midwest Automated Clearing House Association (UMACHA). Of the 19 regional ACH associations, UMACHA is the fifth largest by volume, fourth largest geographically, and fourth largest based on the number of members with over 825. Laing has been at the UMACHA helm for over 20 years.

Nichol Beckstrand, COO of Sunrise Community Banks (a three-bank holding company in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area), oversees the operations of each bank including legal, regulatory, audit/compliance, financial operations management, and project management. Prior to her current position, she spent 10 years at LarsonAllen where she was a Principal in the Financial Institutions Group with experience as both an internal and external auditor. She has been involved in a variety of financial institution engagements including certified audits, directors’ examinations, internal audit and compliance services, and other consulting engagements. Her emphasis lies in providing regulatory compliance testing and training to community banks. She has instructed various ACH training, compliance, risk management and internal audit training for ICBA and for many community banking associations.

Chris Braccia was the marketing director for a Connecticut mutual savings bank for 13 years before joining Harland Financial Solutions where he is now the Director of Product Marketing-Retail Solutions. He has also served as a research analyst and sales manager for a $1.5 billion mutual savings bank in Connecticut. He was one of the first users of MCIF (Marketing Customer Information File) technology and has served on the boards of a number of financial services professional organizations. He is a graduate of the National School of Banking and a frequent speaker at financial institution conferences.

Tracy Gorman has an MBA in marketing from the Carlson School of Management and has worked in the financial services industry for seven years. She currently works in Community Bank Marketing with HARLAND. As part of the community bank marketing team, she is responsible for researching industry and market trends, understanding the unique needs of community banks, and developing strategies and solutions to help community banks be more successful and meet their performance objectives.

Randy Romes is the manager of the LarsonAllen Information Security Services Group and leads a team of technology and industry specialists providing IT audits and security assessments, including Internet penetration testing, internal security analysis, social engineering engagements, incidence response and remediation, general controls reviews, and policies and procedures for clients in a range of industries and a diversity of operating environments. He is responsible for the continuing development of the open-source, Unix, and Windows applications used in all of the security audits. He has been a consultant with LarsonAllen for seven years. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, a Certified Installation Specialist for the Microsoft Great Plains-eEnterprise application, and a Microsoft Certified Professional with multiple NT 4.0 certifications.
